Agave is very high in fructose (actually contains more than high fructose corn syrup). Fructose in natural fruits comes in low quantities for the most part and we don't tend to eat too many fruits, but in syrups, it's very easy to get too much fructose too quickly. Fructose doesn't impact your blood sugar like glucose, but it is digested in the liver and is highly lipogenic. So for weight loss specifically, it's not our favorite sweetener. Coconut palm sugar and Stevia are the ones Jon recommends.
